Orissa bagged nine medals for East Zone on the opening day of the 21st National Inter-Zonal Junior Athletics Championship at Punjab University ground in Chandigarh today.
Dutee Chand and Renubala Mahanta won the two gold medals in girls 400m run and long jump respectively. Orissa also secured three silver and four bronze medals in other events.

Girls-18: Orissa-A comprising Puspanjali Mallik, Dulari Kisku, Namita Kabat, Sairindri Nag (Bronze in 1000m medley relay, 2:24.11s)
Girls-20: Renubala Mahanta (Gold in long jump, 6.05m)
Boys-16: Orissa-A comprising Guja Marandi, Simon Tirkey, Surendra Kisan, Ramachandra Kisku (Silver in 1000m medley relay, 2:02.60s): Dhiren Kumar Kadraka (Bronze in long jum, 6.54m)
Boys-18: Orissa-A comprising Chandan Murmu, Satya Pedenti, Bikash Dung Dung and Amiya Mallick (Bronze in 100m medley relay, 1:59.71s)
Boys-20: Birsa Oram (Silver in 1500m run, 4:04.23s): Rabi Das (Silver in long jump, 7.26m).
